Well, I'm going to go back to school. Even though I've already got my BA in Art History, I reeeeeaaallly want an interior design degree. I've always been obsessed by interior design/houses/american architecture etc. That was what I originally wanted to finish at BYU, but after getting married I felt like I needed to hurry and finish my degree, and Art History required less hours. Also, I didn't have any kind of art portfolio, so I was afraid I wouldn't be accepted into the art school. Anyhow, that was naive and silly, I wish I had more guidance. Oh, well. Recently, I started snooping around for schools in Charlotte that offer Associates in Interior Design. The community college here offers a degree in Interiors that has evening classes. Yay! So, Travis and I talked about it and I'm going to start classes Fall of '08. He's so supportive of my dreams, I'm very lucky! He said he would be happy to put the kids to bed a few nights a week so I can go to class.
So I just tried to register online, but it's too early for Fall. I'll have to wait till April 30th for summer term (there are 2 online classes I can start with). I like how the community college focuses on the technical side of the job, like CAD and drafting and rubber-hits-the-road stuff. These are my weaknesses, because I know nothing about them. I feel confident with art & architectural history/creativity/ shopping/ drawing/ planning/working with people.
Because of my Bachelors, there's quite a few classes I don't have to take. I need to complete 20 so if I take 3 evening classes (while the kids are in bed) per term and that will get me done in about 2 years (by the time Grace starts PreK). Then I can intern for 1-2 years and start my own business in 2012 while everyone is in school. Yay!
So, there's one item on my 30's list, figure out what my p.b. means when it says I will "achieve a profession that will allow me to create unique ideas and concepts for others" Sometimes, I wonder if maybe I'm materialistic because of how much I love furniture & design, but I think an environment is an extension of the people who live inside. When you go into a beautiful place, it can uplift your spirit, like being in the temple. "A thing of beauty is a joy forever" right? And I'm suppose "experience great joy and happiness in my creativity." Sorry this is so long and poorly written, I'm just a little excited!!!

Nichole,
Hey old friend. I noticed your link on Kendra's Blog and thought I'd get caught up on the Huntsman's happenings. HGTV is accepting application for season 3 of Design Star. You would be awesome. Last season's winner was a hairdresser. This is right up your alley. I think the deadline is the end of this month. FYI
