We had a great New Year's holiday. Chris & Mandy Wojda (Chris is a high school friend of mine) came to visit. It was so nice to meet Mandy, she's a fellow reader and all around cool girl. Travis and Mandy had to put up with all of our old stories about the "glory days". It's so fun talking with an old friend, because you have memories with holes in them and the other person seems to remember details that you've forgotten. We also decided to train to run a half marathon all together. So, even though Travis joked that he wouldn't be running a marathon in '08, he'll at least be doing half of one.
So, we decided to end '07 with a fondue dinner. Because of my excellent planning, I forgot to actually go buy the fondue pot. So, Travis found one at Target on the way home. Once he was home we realized it needed a chafing candle, so then he left to go get that. First Target, nope, then Party City, nope, then Lowe's, nope. OK...then the grocery store. Yes!! They sell them. A while later he gets home and we get everything rolling.....sort of. We started with the cheese fondue, which I immediately burnt. But, it was still edible. Next we put on the broth for the beef & veggies. Appartantly I'm no rocket scientist (literally, I don't understand thermodynamics) because I couldn't get the flame hot enough to boil the broth. So, after 20 minutes, even on the stove, Travis gallantly saved me from my disaster. It was almost 11:00 and still no dinner. "Pizza?" What a good guy, to go back and forth fifty times, because I'm such a dumbie. I love you!! And he didn't complain once. (not to mention he cleaned up the "new years" bash the kids had in the bonus room, that involved an overturned bag of chips and 2 broken lamps, yikes! Just so I could spend time with Chris & Mandy)
Well Happy New Year!!

We love Fondue!!! Eating at midnight sounds perfect on New Year's Eve!
I haven't ever really had fondue. It sounds so yummy. Good thing our poor husbands love us so much to go out to the stores multiple, multiple times to fetch our necessities! The holidays may not happen without them. :D
Ahhh! I'm so excited that you commented on my blog. I'd love to call you and catch up sometime. I love seeing your family and wish we could be your neighbors. Hmm, Is that creepy to you?
Your family seems wonderful and your life charmed, but you seem like you're still the energetic charmed exciting Nichole. Cheers to you, power woman. I'm right there with you!
