Paige changes her mind

Money, money, money! That girl can count her money 20 times a day. She's been obsessed with counting, earning, talking about and spending her money. I was getting a little worried about her, because she's usually so easy going, it was like this new greedy little imp was taking over. But, I decided not to say anything, thinking it would pass.

Her main motivation for all the money hoarding was to save enough for a new Webkinz. You parents know what these things are. Little stuffed animals, that you log onto their website and build a virtual world around. They have a bedroom, and need to be fed daily. Webkinz world is addicting. I think they use mind control. I even go on to play the games! Anyhow, that was her singular focus for a couple weeks.

Until one day when she got off the school bus. She was kind of quiet on the ride home. Once we were inside she said, "Everyone in my class has a Webkinz, except Mary Grace." (I'm thinking, "yay, her parents are the only smart ones.") "She wants a Golden Retriver." "I'm going to get her one, cuz now I have enough money." Wow! To see such a 180 was a very proud moment for me. Sure enough she got her money out and ponied up. That's a picture of her after we bought it. That's the Paige I love. So sweet and thoughtful. Always thinking of others before herself. Giving her half licked lollipop to her little sister. Letting her friend wear her favorite princess costume. Teaching us all a great lesson.
