This was the song that my iPod shuffled to as we pulled out of the neighborhood for the last time last October. I cried. Then we got a phone call from Janice this summer when the fire happened. Seems this is the best way to say goodbye to our old neighborhood and home.
So Long, Farewell - Sound of Music OST

The night of the fire. Started at 1:30 am, a drive-by on Brawley saw the flames and called the fire station (which is just around the corner). Our neighbor Karen sent us these photos. I wasn't sure if I wanted to see them. The fire started in the attic over Cole's & the Master bedroom.

The house was destroyed and was knocked down about a month ago. Anybody looking for an empty building lot?? hah, it's got septic/sod/sprinklers....any takers?
On a happier note, we were able to salvage the kids handprints that I traced on the wood floor. It was hidden under the corner cabinets in the kitchen. I had thought maybe one day in the far distant future, someone would be remodeling and would discover them. Maybe track us down and send a photo. I never thought I'd get to keep them.
